Kye Forte rides the Revolution Bikepark Quarry Line with Dan Atherton
1 February 2014 | By AngusMcIntosh | 2 CommentsBack in 2013 Angus took the trip to deepest darkest Wales and ventured into the mystical land of the "Nog" and home to Revolution Bikepark.
I feel like its necessary to give a bit of backstory to quite how this set of photos ever came about...
The plan was to get away with the boys for a weekend of uplift powered downhill at Revolution Bikepark for Worton's birthday... On a Friday night straight from the office I headed to the agreed meeting point (A pub car park) and waited for the other memebers of the party... Greg and Booker were on time... Kye, Worton and Rob however were not and still hadn't made an appearance before convoying all the way to Wales from Devon... (Hopefully in Kye's slipstream behind the van to save fuel.)
A mere hour and a half late, the guys arrive in the car park with some limp excuse about filling up a pressure washer, We set off...
A considerable amount of time later and after consuming 3 times my own body weight in chewy milk bottles from the sevice station we arrive in Llangynog and check into the pub in the town which was our accommodation for the weekend... It became very obvious at this point the pub in question never stops serving, no matter what time of the day or night...
We had an early night and headed to bed...
First run of the day we set off in a train down the Far Side Double Black without any warm up... Not even a minute in and Worton the birthday boy has smashed into a tree in the chute of doom, bashed his leg and effectively ended his weekend.
Seeing as he now had a few hours spare while we all continued riding, Worton set to the task of getting in touch with Dan Atherton and convincing Kye it would be a good idea to take on the infamous quarry line.
Sunday morning comes around and the conditions are pretty much perfect as Mr Atherton rolls into the car park with his bike and the pressure's on...
This track would make the best in the world think twice but Dan just push's to the top and drops in like it was nothing...
The guys broke the line down into a few different parts before taking it on as a whole. The 3 "small" doubles were the first to go before moving up top.
Kye throws in a bit of style on the first jump on the line... The gap may not be the biggest but the consequences at this point are massive. 20 foot to the right and you are falling a couple of hundred feet to your death in the quarry. Not for the faint hearted!
Probably one of my favourite photos from the day... no matter what bike or wheelsize Kye is one of the best out there!
